In a recent incident near Kolkata, the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express experienced a derailment early this morning. The accident took place around 5:30 am at Nalpur, approximately 40 kilometers from the city, as the train transitioned from the middle tracks to the outer tracks. According to the South Eastern Railway (SER), three coaches of the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express went off the rails, including a parcel van and two third AC passenger coaches.

Fortunately, there were no casualties or major injuries reported. Quick response measures were initiated, with accident and medical relief trains dispatched from Santragachhi and Kharagpur soon after the incident. Additionally, buses were organized to assist stranded passengers in reaching their destinations, ensuring minimal disruption to their journeys.
