Outrage Erupts: Itanagar Police Constable Arrested for Shocking Teen Molestation – Guwahati News Uncovers Deep Scandal

In Itanagar, a constable named Nyenwang Wangsu has been arrested on charges of allegedly molesting a 19-year-old woman near the police station. The incident reportedly occurred on a Wednesday night when the victim visited the station to charge her phone. Despite the officer on duty offering safe transportation home, the woman chose to leave on her own. The constable allegedly followed her to a dimly lit area nearby and molested her.

The matter surfaced after a friend of the victim shared the incident on social media platforms, prompting the Itanagar police’s social media cell to take notice. Following this, Inspectors Khiksi Yangfo and Rina Sonam located the victim and her family, who initially hesitated to file a complaint. However, they agreed after receiving counseling.

A formal complaint was lodged at the Women’s police station in Itanagar, leading to Wangsu’s arrest under sections 74/75/78 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The investigation continues. Capital Superintendent of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh emphasized the priority of women’s and children’s safety, assuring that the accused will face swift legal action to set a firm precedent against such misconduct.

Singh also encouraged the public to report crimes without hesitation, suggesting they can do so via social media, emergency helpline 112, or Pink PCR units if they are reluctant to visit police stations directly. The Capital Police aims to ensure prompt action and facilitate ease of reporting for all victims.
