At least 18 workers were injured in a mishap at Evonith Steel Plant in Wardha district, Maharashtra, during the cooling of steel slag on the evening of November 7, 2024. The accident occurred around 7 p.m. in the furnace area, resulting in burn injuries for most of the workers. They were promptly hospitalized, with three being transferred to Nagpur, 76 km away, for advanced treatment. The condition of one worker is critical. The fire was swiftly controlled, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. Wardha Collector Rahul Kardile confirmed that a detailed inquiry has been initiated, with the administration team actively examining the site.
