In laboratory tests, extracts from these sources were shown to contain compounds like guanosine, which appears to halt the replication phase of cancer cells. This could potentially slow or stop the spread of cancer. The findings, published in PLOS ONE, suggest that incorporating such compounds through dietary means could bolster cancer prevention.
Guanosine, a nucleoside, emerged as a standout compound for its capability to disrupt cancer cell proliferation. Although research is still in its early phases, these insights offer promising avenues for developing dietary guidelines or supplements aimed at enhancing the body’s defense against cancer.
