The Wozhuro Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Wokha district celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 29 with a Silver Jubilee event marked by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque. Dr. E Motsuthung Patton, Principal Director of Nagaland’s Department of Health and Family Welfare, led the ceremony, alongside Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Zubenthung Kikon. The event underscored the unwavering commitment and hard work of the medical officers and staff who have been integral to the centre’s operations since its inception in 1999.
During his speech, Dr. Patton extended his gratitude to the individuals and teams contributing to the health centre’s success, particularly acknowledging the landowners whose generous donations of land have been vital to the community’s health needs. Dr. Kikon echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of continued community cooperation to enhance health services. He noted that the Silver Jubilee serves as a testament to the collective efforts of the community, including the landowners’ role in maintaining the site’s accessibility by clearing surrounding vegetation.
Chaired by Dr. Renathung M. Kithan, Medical Officer of PHC Wozhuro, the celebration brought together a diverse group of attendees including medical staff, community leaders, and representatives from various village councils. Significant figures in attendance included Yanbemo Tungoe, Chairman of the Wozhuro Range Council Union; Myinthungo Khuvung, Chairman of the land donors; Dr. N. Mhabemo Kithan, former Director of the medical department; HCMC Chairman Chumbenthung Khuvung; and Meriyan Village Chairman Alow Khuvung. Civil society leaders from Totsu, Shaki, Phiro, Sankiton, L Yanthung, and other community members also graced the occasion, showcasing a strong sense of unity and dedication to advancing healthcare services in the region.
The event, which was highlighted by a prayer dedication from Rev. Rapvuo Odyuo, Former Pastor of Phiro Baptist Church, celebrated the milestone and fostered a renewed commitment to community health and wellbeing in Wokha district.
