In a dazzling display of cultural and spiritual significance, the city of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh set a new world record during its grand Deepotsav celebrations by lighting over 25 lakh earthen lamps. This achievement illuminated the banks of the Sarayu River, presenting a breathtaking golden glow that captured the world’s attention. While the organizers initially aimed to light 28 lakh diyas, they successfully lit 25,12,585 lamps, marking a historic accomplishment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi heralded the event as “amazing, incomparable, and unimaginable,” expressing that the Jyotiparva celebration at the birthplace of Ram Lalla will invigorate the nation with renewed enthusiasm and energy. The Deepotsav highlighted Ayodhya’s spiritual, traditional, and cultural essence, featuring performances by artists from countries like Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia, as well as a Ram Leela presentation from Uttarakhand.
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated by performing an ‘aarti’ and pulling the chariot for Ramayan artistes. For this year’s event, Saket Mahavidyalaya and the Tourism Department crafted 18 elaborate tableaux, depicting scenes from Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas, including Bal Kand, Ayodhya Kand, and others.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh noted this was the first Deepotsav following the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram mandir, with every effort made to heighten its grandeur and divinity. The event successfully showcased the rich cultural heritage of Ayodhya, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and viewers worldwide.
