Breaking News: Mumbai Enforces a Bold 10 PM Cutoff for Deepavali Firecrackers – Celebrate with Joy and Responsibility!

In an effort to curb pollution during the festive season, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued guidelines for an eco-friendly Deepavali celebration in Mumbai. According to a notification released on October 28, 2024, the BMC advises residents to use noiseless firecrackers and restrict firecracker bursting to before 10 p.m. on Diwali day to minimize air and noise pollution. The civic authority emphasizes the importance of ensuring children’s and senior citizens’ safety by recommending that crackers be set off in open areas rather than narrow or crowded spaces and advises keeping water and sand available for emergencies. To address moderate air pollution levels, the BMC has assigned ground-level teams across all 26 municipal wards to enforce dust control measures.
