Heartwarming Transformations: PM SVANidhi Beneficiaries Share Inspiring Journeys at ‘Swachh Diwali’ Program
New Delhi, October 28 (IANS) – A ‘Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali’ campaign event recently took place at Delhi’s Nirman Bhawan complex, attracting participation from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and scheme beneficiaries. These individuals displayed their products and creations, demonstrating the impact of the PMSVANidhi scheme on their businesses. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, visited the event, engaging with vendors and shopkeepers who showcased their goods for the Diwali celebrations.
Participants shared personal stories of transformation thanks to the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. This initiative aims to support street vendors by providing collateral-free working capital loans up to Rs 10,000 for a one-year term, promoting their economic upliftment. Vendor Rupam Kumari, a pickle-maker from Yamuna Vihar, expressed how this scheme has shifted her from being housebound to exploring numerous business opportunities. “We owe a lot to PM Modi’s schemes for changing our lives,” she remarked.
Deepak, a tea stall owner from Dakshinpuri, recounted how his business recovered from the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak thanks to a Rs 10,000 loan under the PMSVANidhi Yojana. “No government considered us before, but this scheme has significantly improved our lives,” he noted.
Abhilash Jha from Sarita Vihar shared how the loan helped establish his kachori-making business in 2023, while Bina Bhatia from Malviya Nagar utilized the scheme to initiate a millet products business. She aims to expand using larger loans facilitated by the scheme. “PM Modi has made bank loans more accessible for us,” Bhatia commented.
The PMSVANidhi scheme is instrumental in empowering street vendors, enabling them to sustain and grow their businesses, improving their livelihoods, and contributing to broader economic development.
