In a Saturday press conference on October 26, 2024, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh alleged that there is a “deep conspiracy” aimed at harming the party’s convener, Arvind Kejriwal, holding the BJP accountable for any threats to his safety. According to Singh, Kejriwal was attacked by individuals he identified as “BJP goons” during a ‘padyatra’ campaign in Vikaspuri, west Delhi. Singh criticized the police for their alleged complicity, suggesting they failed to prevent an attack orchestrated by the BJP’s youth wing. Despite this incident, Singh affirmed that Kejriwal would continue his campaign as planned. When questioned about the absence of a formal complaint, Singh suggested that an impartial police force would have precluded such an incident from happening. He mentioned that the AAP is consulting legal experts for further steps. While BJP leaders deny the allegations, attributing the incident to local protests over water supply issues, Singh insisted that Kejriwal will persist in his efforts for Delhi’s residents. He cautioned that any harm to Kejriwal would incite a retaliatory response from Delhi’s people toward the BJP. No immediate response was obtained from the police or BJP officials regarding Singh’s accusations.
