Revolutionary Green Line Namma Metro Extension: A Game-Changer for Tumakuru Road Traffic Relief
Commuters in north Bengaluru are eagerly anticipating the launch of the 3.7-kilometre extension of the Green Line of Namma Metro, which promises to alleviate congestion on Tumakuru Road. This extension, from Nagasandra to Madavara, will include three new stations: Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara, offering much-needed relief for residents frequently stuck in traffic jams. BMRCL has completed all necessary tests and received approval from the Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety, with a formal launch date announcement pending.
Residents along the route, like Anil Kumar from Madavara, express relief at the new commuting options. Similarly, Shruti Desai from Chikkabidarakallu notes the convenience it offers for travel to M.G. Road. Despite delays due to land acquisition challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic, the metro extension is set to enhance connectivity to areas such as the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre.
Looking forward, the 2024-25 Karnataka budget outlines ambitious plans for further Namma Metro extensions, including a potential route from the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre to Tumakuru, and another from Kempegowda International Airport to Devanahalli. The state government is pursuing these projects under Public-Private Partnership models, with feasibility studies already in progress. If approved, these extensions would significantly boost public transportation options in the region.
