A tragic accident occurred on October 21, 2024, along East Coast Road (ECR) in Akkarai, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Catherine, a second-year engineering student. She was riding pillion on a two-wheeler driven by her friend when they tried to make way for an oncoming vehicle. Unfortunately, they lost control and fell onto the road. A private sewage tanker ran over Catherine, leading to her immediate death, while her friend sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. The Adyar Traffic Investigation Team has initiated an inquiry into the incident.
