Urgent Alert: Torrential Downpours Batter South Coastal Andhra Pradesh – Stay Safe as Authorities Remain on High Alert
Heavy rains have swept through various districts in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, significantly impacting Nellore and Chittoor, due to a well-marked low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for today, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Nellore, Prakasam, YSR, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, in collaboration with local district officials, is actively monitoring the evolving situation. To manage the crisis effectively, Command Control Centres and epidemic cells have been established in the affected districts. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to hazardous conditions.
With the IMD forecasting extended periods of heavy rainfall, residents in low-lying areas have been cautioned to remain vigilant over the next three days. Safety measures and preparedness initiatives are in place to mitigate potential risks as the situation develops.
