Massive Downpour in Chennai Sparks Chaotic Transportation Disruption
In response to recent disruptions, several changes have been implemented in train services originating from Chennai. The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Chennai train was prematurely stopped at Avadi, while the Mangaluru–Chennai mail came to a halt at Tiruvallur. To alleviate the travel crisis and streamline operations, Southern Railway has strategically altered the departure points of trains bound for various destinations.
The Mangaluru-bound train now sets off from Perambur, those traveling to Thiruvananthapuram depart from Chennai Beach, and Mettupalayam-bound travelers commence their journey from Avadi. Additionally, departures for the Palani Express to Palakkad and the Blue Mountain Express to Coimbatore have also been moved to Avadi. Meanwhile, the overnight express to Bengaluru has been rerouted to begin its service from Chennai Beach.
Ensuring travelers remain well-informed during this period of transition, Southern Railway has taken proactive measures by sending text alerts to passengers holding reserved tickets. These notifications provide updated details about departure times and the revised originating stations, aiding passengers in adjusting their travel plans accordingly.
These changes underscore Southern Railway’s commitment to managing the current crisis efficiently while minimizing inconvenience to passengers. By optimizing logistics and communication, the railways aim to maintain a seamless travel experience amid unexpected service interruptions.
