Breaking: Explosive Demand Sends Trump Crypto Project Website Crashing as Tokens Hit the Market!
World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency project championed by Donald Trump and his sons, encountered technical difficulties when it launched its token sale on Tuesday. The Ethereum-based tokens became available to accredited investors via the World Liberty Financial website, which suffered significant outages. By 1:48 p.m. New York time, over 500 million tokens had been sold at 1.5 cents each, reported the website. The project aimed to raise $300 million with a $1.5 billion valuation. Since September 30, it has been accepting applications for its list of accredited investors—individuals who meet specific income or net worth criteria.
Trump promoted the token sale on X over the weekend; however, the project’s social media accounts remained silent on Tuesday. The Trump family is not directly involved in the management or ownership of the project, although they could receive compensation. The venture intends to expand access to financial tools for all Americans. Notably, World Liberty has faced issues with scams and impersonators, prompting warnings about phishing scams on its social media.
Complications arose as some investors reported difficulties in purchasing tokens, and a fraudulent account attempted to direct users to a fake presale address before being suspended. The token presale coincides with Trump’s appeal to crypto enthusiasts, coming three weeks before the presidential election. Trump, who has previously spoken at major cryptocurrency events and released nonfungible tokens, is named as the project’s chief crypto advocate. His sons, Eric, Donald Jr., and Barron, serve as web3 ambassadors, while other key figures such as Paxos co-founder Rich Teo and senior research cryptographer Luke Pearson, are also part of the team. Despite the issues, the project continues with its plans to integrate cryptocurrency into a broader financial framework.
