Urgent Alert: Dimapur Police Seeks Dangerous NSCN-K (Niki) Kilonser & Accomplice – Act Now!
The Dimapur Police have issued a “Wanted” notice for two individuals allegedly involved in the abduction of two people on October 10. The suspects include Khevini T Yepthomi, a 50-year-old Kilonser under the NSCN-K (Niki), and his accomplice, known as ‘Ilhovi @ Kimeyeto.’ Police have linked them to Dimapur East Police Station Case No. 173/24, which falls under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, related to kidnapping and abduction.
Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who provides information leading to their arrest, assuring that informers’ identities will be kept confidential. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, prompting local organizations like the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) to call for stricter enforcement of Ceasefire Ground Rules to prevent extortion and abduction for ransom by Naga Political Groups (NPGs).
In response, an interim Dimapur-based youth body has been established, demanding swift action from the Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG). They issued a 48-hour ultimatum, starting October 12, for the arrest of those responsible. A meeting of around 18 organizations also pushed for the installation of CCTV coverage in Dimapur and removal of NPG camps from public areas. There is unanimous support for the “One Government, One Tax” stance adopted by the Naga Council Dimapur.
BAN has demanded immediate action, emphasizing that violations of ceasefire agreements damage societal unity and impede economic progress. They stress the importance of respecting the rule of law and the need for a conducive environment for economic growth and political resolution. BAN remains committed to supporting Naga entrepreneurs and the broader business community, advocating for a cohesive and prosperous state economy.
Further developments on the issue, including meetings with top police officials, are anticipated. The situation remains dynamic, with impending decisions expected after the ultimatum’s deadline.
