Empowering Victory: President Murmu and PM Modi’s Heartfelt Dussehra 2024 Wishes on Vijayadashmi
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their greetings on the occasion of Vijayadashami. President Murmu, in a social media post, conveyed her warm wishes to all Indians worldwide for Durga Puja. Prime Minister Modi expressed his hopes that with blessings from Maa Durga and Lord Shri Ram, people achieve success in all aspects of life.
Both leaders planned to attend a Dussehra event organized by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee in Delhi. Dheeraj Dhar Gupta, the committee’s General Secretary, detailed that the program, marking its 101st year, would feature the traditional burning of effigies and begin at 5.30 pm. Given the Prime Minister’s attendance, security was heightened, with the Special Protection Group tasked with arrangements.
Rajesh Gehlot, Chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized the symbolic act of effigy burning as a representation of overcoming societal sins. Inviting PM Modi and other BJP leaders, Gehlot expressed optimism for their participation on October 12, 2024.
The festival of Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, commemorates the legendary victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. Concurrently celebrated is Durga Puja, honoring the goddess Durga’s victory over the demon Mahishasur, and emphasizing values like compassion and culture. During these festivities, regions across India are filled with music, new attire, and culinary delights.
The nine-day Navratri festival, observed during this period, involves devotees worshiping nine forms of Maa Durga, with ritual fasting, prayers, and offerings to seek blessings for prosperity and happiness.
