Outrage as BJP Exposes Shocking Attempt to Support Waqf Board’s Land Claim in Kozhikode

BJP State General Secretary M.T. Ramesh has accused both the ruling party and the Opposition in the Kozhikode Corporation of backing the Kerala State Waqf Board’s claim over a disputed piece of Corporation-owned land at East Nadakavu. During a visit to the site on October 9, Ramesh pointed out that the land had housed the Corporation’s quarters and an Anganwadi for many years, with taxes having been duly paid by the Corporation. He expressed concern over a purported plan to transfer 35 cents of this land to the Waqf Board, despite its recent demolition by the Corporation for the proposed construction of a shopping complex, which had been allocated budget funds until 2022. Ramesh questioned the Corporation’s sudden support for the Waqf Board’s claim and alleged that similar moves were being made by the Board across the country. He called on the Corporation to take the matter to the Kerala High Court, or else the BJP would pursue legal action. Furthermore, he stated that BJP would inform Aparajitha Sarangi, a member of the parliamentary scrutiny committee on the Waqf Bill, about the issue. Ramesh was joined by BJP State Vice President P. Raghunath and District President V.K. Sajeevan during his visit.
