Thrilling Battle for Glory: Northeast Women’s Cricket Teams Compete for Inaugural Interstate Friendship T20 Trophy
Six Northeast states are gearing up to showcase their cricketing prowess in the inaugural Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament, commencing tomorrow, September 30, at the Pahamsning Cricket Ground, Nongkhrah. Hosted by the Meghalaya Cricket Association, this exciting event will feature live streaming on the cricheroes app.
The tournament acts as a vital precursor to the BCCI Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, which marks the onset of next month’s domestic cricket season. Competing teams are divided into two groups: Group A includes Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur, while Group B features Nagaland, Mizoram, and Sikkim.
These member states of the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC) have made commendable progress in the development of women’s cricket. Last season was particularly memorable, highlighted by Nagaland’s Sentilemla Imsong, who recorded the region’s first half-century, and Meghalaya’s Debasmita Dutta, who notched its inaugural five-wicket haul in zonal competitions.
The tournament, scheduled to run through October 4, promises to be a thrilling display of emerging talent from India’s Northeast.
