Governor Parnaik Visits Aalo TB Centre, Highlights Commitment to Eradicating Tuberculosis
Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, visited the District Tuberculosis (TB) Centre in Aalo, West Siang District, on September 26, 2024. This visit underscored the state’s ongoing efforts to eradicate tuberculosis.
Governor Parnaik inspected the facility, which is pivotal for TB control across West Siang, Lower Siang, Leparada, Shi Yomi, and Siang districts. As a Nikshay Mitra under the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), he adopted two TB patients from West Siang, providing them with nutritional, diagnostic, and vocational support, symbolically handing over food baskets during his visit.
In his address, Governor Parnaik reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to eliminating TB in India by 2025, ahead of the 2030 global target set by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He called on the community and health officials to collaborate in raising TB awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and leveraging modern technologies for improved healthcare planning and analysis.
Commending the medical staff’s efforts, he acknowledged their contributions to health reforms and their compassionate patient care. Supporting Governor Parnaik’s initiative, health officials including Dr. Dubom Bagra, District Medical Officer, Dr. Karken Rina, District Tuberculosis Officer, and Dr. Nyade Padu Bagra, briefed him on TB and other regional health issues.
Later, Governor Parnaik visited the Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Darka, recently awarded the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Certification by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. He applauded the dedication of health officials in enhancing healthcare quality in the region. Dr. Tomar Kamki, District Reproductive and Child Health Officer, provided an overview of the facility’s commitment to delivering high-quality health services.
Governor Parnaik’s actions and words resonated as a strong call to action in the fight against TB, highlighting the importance of community involvement and modern healthcare strategies.
