Celebrating Triumph: Meghalaya’s Inspiring Female Farmers Honoured for Transforming the Sericulture Sector
Three female sericulture farmers from Meghalaya were honoured at the Central Silk Board’s (CSB) national-level Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in Mysuru, Karnataka. These women were recognized for their significant contributions and exceptional performance in the sericulture sector.
The event was organized by the Textile Ministry to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the CSB, where hundreds of sericulture farmers from across India were acknowledged for their achievements, including the three women from Meghalaya.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma took to the microblogging site X to congratulate the trio, praising their outstanding contributions to the sericulture industry. “Congratulations to them!” he expressed enthusiastically.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh and Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, with Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita and Karnataka Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture K. Venkatesh also in attendance.
In addition to honoring farmers, the event featured an exhibition showcasing the diverse and high-quality silk fabrics and products.
