Security Forces Seize Cache of Weapons Along Manipur-Myanmar Border
In a significant crackdown on militant activities, security forces conducted a series of coordinated operations along the Manipur-Myanmar border and in Imphal East district, recovering a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
The joint operation, involving both central and state forces, focused on dismantling known militant hideouts in Chandel and Churachandpur districts. In Chandel’s Gulzil village, which borders Myanmar, security personnel found a pistol, hand grenade, grenade ignitor, bulletproof jackets, and other military gear abandoned by Kuki militants.
In Shejang village, Churachandpur, forces unearthed a rocket, a modified M-16 rifle, and various types of mortars and launchers. Additionally, raids in Chanung and C Zoulen villages in the Imphal East district led to the recovery of a locally made gun, an SLR magazine, and ammunition.
All seized items have been handed over to the Manipur police for further investigation. These successful operations mark a significant blow to militant activities in the region and underscore the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain peace and stability.
