Swacchata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024 Kicks Off Today
The nationwide cleanliness campaign, Swacchata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024, begins today and will run until October 2nd. This year’s theme, "Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swacchta," emphasizes the ingrained nature of cleanliness within societal and personal ethics.
Central to the campaign are extensive cleanliness drives targeting a variety of public spaces including tourist spots, commercial hubs, water bodies, zoos, sanctuaries, and community and public toilets. These activities will be facilitated through collective action and voluntary labor known as shramdaan.
The 2024 campaign is structured around three main pillars: Cleanliness Target Units (CTU) shramdaan activities, broad public participation under Swachhata Mein Jan Bhaagidari, and safety initiatives for sanitation workers through SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir.
A wide array of stakeholders, including citizens, industries, NGOs, development organizations, urban local bodies, and panchayats, will be mobilized. Additionally, the campaign’s whole-of-government approach mandates the participation of States, Union Territories, Chief Ministers, Central Ministries, and local bodies to drive a unified national effort towards cleanliness.
Engagement activities planned by central government ministries and states will span the entire country, aiming to foster a robust sense of civic duty and community involvement in the cleanliness initiative.
As Swacchata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024 commences, the entire nation is called upon to join in this critical mission, reinforcing the importance of cleanliness as a cornerstone of societal values and public health.
