Explosive Accusation: Trump Blames Biden and Harris’ Dangerous Rhetoric for Shocking Assassination Plot | MorungExpress
Trump Accuses Biden and Harris of Inciting Violence After Assassination Attempt
Washington, September 17 (IANS) – Former US President Donald Trump has launched a fierce attack on President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, blaming their "rhetoric" for a second assassination attempt against him since July, according to media reports. Trump claimed on Monday that a suspected gunman acted on the "highly inflammatory language" used by Democrats, CNN reported. This statement followed an incident at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump narrowly escaped an attack.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump asserted that the suspect was influenced by Biden and Harris’ warnings that he is a threat to democracy. "Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones destroying it," Trump argued, labeling Biden and Harris as the "real threat." He added that although he could use inflammatory language more effectively, he chooses not to.
In response, Harris, her running mate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Biden all expressed relief that Trump was unharmed. Harris wrote on social media, "I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America." Biden and Harris have previously contended that Trump endangers US democracy, citing his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.
The suspected gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, was found with an AK-47-style rifle, a GoPro camera, and two backpacks. Although Routh initially escaped, he was later apprehended on I-95, Fox News reported.
Following the incident, Trump assured supporters via a fundraising email, "I AM SAFE AND WELL!" emphasizing his resilience and resolve. "Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!" he stated.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham confirmed speaking with Trump, noting that he is in "good spirits." This incident follows a previous assassination attempt in July, in which Trump was injured at a rally in Pennsylvania.
