Delhi Manipuri Society Strongly Rebuts False Allegations by Kuki Inpi Manipur
The Delhi Manipuri Society (DeMAS), Meitei Heritage Society, and Ningols United Progressive Initiatives (NUPI) have issued a firm rebuttal against what they call baseless accusations by the Kuki Inpi Manipur. The contention centers on the groups’ denunciation of statements made by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) P C Nair, former Director General of Assam Rifles, concerning recent violence in Manipur.
These organizations lambasted Lt. Gen. Nair for denying drone bombings and missile attacks on Meitei civilians by armed Kuki militants, labeling his comments as “irresponsible” and “unfounded.” They accused the Kuki Inpi Manipur of diverting attention from such incidents and of manipulating the narrative to portray themselves as victims, despite substantial evidence of Kuki involvement in the violence.
The statement emphasized that both the Meitei and Kuki communities have suffered extensively, with 121 Kukis and 106 Meiteis confirmed dead and dozens more missing. The groups voiced their astonishment at the Kuki Inpi’s ongoing “charade,” particularly after Kuki leaders publicly admitted to producing rockets and launching attacks on Meitei villages.
The Delhi-based organizations reiterated their call for a comprehensive investigation into the drone bombings and missile attacks, refuting claims that their statements are misinformation. They also urged Lt. Gen. Nair to retract his “misleading” comments and called on Kuki Inpi Manipur to prioritize peace and reconciliation over the spread of misinformation.
“We appeal to all Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Manipur to work towards ending the sufferings of both communities and restoring peace through dialogue,” the statement concluded.
In related news, Chief Minister Biren Singh announced that Manipur has destroyed 18,000 hectares of poppy fields amidst the ongoing state crisis.
