Prime Minister Narendra Modi Urgently Seeks Support to Create a Terror-Free and Thriving J&K
Jammu: Prime Minister Modi Attacks Congress, Dynastic Parties in First Poll Rally
JAMMU – During his inaugural rally ahead of Jammu & Kashmir’s upcoming elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized his administration’s commitment to peace and development in the region. Addressing a vibrant crowd in Doda district, Modi castigated what he termed as the "most corrupt" Congress and dynastic parties like the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He accused these parties of depriving people of their rights and fostering terrorism.
Modi slammed Congress and its leadership, specifically targeting the Gandhis, for political dishonesty and corrupt practices. Referring to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent visit to J&K, Modi criticized him for lacking a constructive agenda. "Instead of focusing on J&K’s welfare, their only agenda seemed to be putting people in jail," Modi said.
Lauding the enthusiasm of the gathering, Modi acknowledged the strong participation of women and assured a prosperous and secure future for J&K. He rebuked the dynastic parties for neglecting the region’s youth and preventing new leadership from emerging. Modi highlighted his efforts post-2014 to empower local youth through Panchayat and urban body elections, bringing democracy to the grassroots level. "Today, 30-35,000 youths have taken control of governance, driving significant development over the past two decades," he noted.
Framing the elections as a battle between the entrenched dynastic families and the ambitious youth of J&K, Modi asserted that these families had perpetuated corruption and allowed terrorism to flourish. He acknowledged the historic violence in regions like Chenab Valley, which has seen a dramatic reduction in terrorism.
Modi commemorated the late Tikka Lal Taploo, a victim of terrorism, and praised the J&K BJP’s initiative to support Kashmiri Pandits. He also spotlighted BJP candidate Shagun Parihar, whose familial losses to terrorism symbolize the party’s resolve to eradicate terror.
