Patna, Bihar: Ahead of Jan Suraj’s foundation day on October 2, chief Prashant Kishor has declared his intent to lift Bihar’s liquor ban "within an hour" should his party come to power. Kishor’s statement arrives amidst rising political friction between Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Addressing ANI, Kishor emphasized the public’s fatigue with the longstanding dominance of RJD and Janata Dal (United), asserting, "We have been preparing for the last two years. If the Jan Suraj government is formed, we will end the liquor ban within one hour."
Kishor offered a candid response to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s recent public outreach yatra, concisely wishing him well and acknowledging, "At least he has come out of the house and is going among the public."
The political discourse has recently been disrupted by a controversy involving accusations and apologies between RJD’s Yadav and JD(U)’s Kumar. Kishor criticized both leaders, stating, "This issue is between Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav, and it doesn’t matter who apologised with folded hands to whom; both have caused damage to Bihar." He called for both politicians to step aside, highlighting the public’s dissatisfaction with their three-decade governance.
During a speech in Bhojpur, Kishor questioned Tejashwi Yadav’s qualifications, remarking on his educational shortcomings despite being the son of former Chief Ministers. "If someone’s parents were Chief Ministers and he couldn’t pass the 10th class, it reflects their approach towards education," Kishor said, adding that a "9th-class dropout" is unlikely to grasp essential economic concepts. He urged Yadav to earn leadership credibility through hard work rather than relying on family legacy.
