Fierce Gunbattles in Jammu and Kashmir: Two Soldiers Martyred, Two Terrorists Neutralized
Srinagar:
In a fierce ongoing confrontation between security forces and terrorists in Kishtwar, two soldiers have tragically lost their lives, a senior army officer confirmed. The encounter commenced in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar after an intelligence-led joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the army. Contact with the terrorists was established at 15:30 hours. During the intense firefight, two soldiers were martyred. The operation remains active, according to a statement from the White Knight Corps.
In a separate incident in Kathua, troops from the Rising Star Corps successfully neutralized two terrorists. The army reported that this operation was also based on specific intelligence inputs.
Sources revealed that the terrorists involved in the Kishtwar encounter are linked to a previous encounter in Doda in July, which resulted in the deaths of four soldiers, including an officer.
These violent clashes come just days before the upcoming assembly elections in the Chenab Valley region, which includes Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts, as well as 16 seats in South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam districts. The voting for these areas is scheduled for September 18.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to campaign in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow, highlighting the tense pre-election atmosphere. Other regions, including Jammu, Kathua, and Samba, are scheduled to vote in the subsequent phases on September 25 and October 1, respectively.
The nation mourns the loss of the brave soldiers, with tributes pouring in from military officials and civilians alike. The White Knight Corps expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers, emphasizing the supreme sacrifice made by these bravehearts.
