Fiery Accusations: KT Rama Rao Blasts Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for Political Turmoil
BRS Leader K.T. Rama Rao Condemns Appointment of Defected MLA as PAC Chairman
Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has denounced the appointment of Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman, calling it a blatant violation of constitutional norms. Gandhi recently defected from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to the ruling Congress party. This announcement coincided with a High Court directive ordering the Legislative Assembly Speaker to expedite hearings on disqualification petitions against BRS defectors Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Tellam Venkata Rao within four weeks.
Highlighting past incidents, Rama Rao recalled how Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President A. Revanth Reddy had previously called for stoning defected MLAs and is now actively admitting them to the Congress. Several Congress ministers and MLAs have hinted that more BRS members might follow suit.
Rama Rao accused the ruling Congress party of orchestrating an attack on BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy’s residence, implicating Congress ‘goondas’ and alleging police complicity. He demanded the suspension of officers present during the attack for failing to perform their duties.
Emphasizing the turmoil stirred by defections, Rama Rao urged the defected MLAs to publicly justify their actions. He attributed the chaos to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging the CM was using diversionary tactics to mask unfulfilled promises made under the six guarantees. Rama Rao likened Reddy’s nine-and-a-half-month tenure to "asmarthuni jeevana yatra" (journey of an incapable person).
