Trump’s Bold Stand: Declining Kamala Harris Debate Amidst Surging Democratic Lead – A Shocking Political Twist
Trump Declines Third Debate with Harris, Claiming Victory Despite Polls Indicating Otherwise
Washington D.C., United States – Former President Donald Trump announced on Thursday he would not engage in a third presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris before the upcoming November 5 election. Despite polls suggesting Harris outperformed him in their previous debates, Trump declared his decision on the social media platform Truth Social, stating, "THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!"
Trump justified his choice in an interview with the New York Post, asserting that he had already participated in two debates—one against President Joe Biden in June and another against Harris. "We’ve done two. You know, one against Biden, one against Comrade Kamala. I did well. I did really well," he said, claiming victory in both instances.
However, data tells a different story. According to a CNN poll conducted shortly after the recent debate, most viewers believed Harris outperformed Trump. YouGov results showed 54% of respondents favored Harris as the winner, while only 31% believed Trump came out on top. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Thursday revealed Harris leads Trump 47% to 42% in the presidential race, showing an increased margin since the confrontation.
The polling data indicates that 53% of viewers familiar with the debate felt Harris won, with 24% siding with Trump. The surveys also highlighted perceptions of each debater’s demeanor; 52% of those surveyed said Trump appeared less sharp, while only 21% felt the same about Harris.
During a rally following Trump’s announcement, Harris emphasized the importance of another debate, saying, "I believe we owe it to the voters to have another debate." The debate in Philadelphia, hosted by ABC News, attracted 67.1 million television viewers, surpassing the 51 million who watched Trump’s debate with Biden in June.
As Election Day approaches, the polling trends suggest a shift in favor of Harris, stemming from her debate performances perceived to display higher moral integrity and effectiveness.
