Stree 2 Skyrockets Past Rs 525 Crore, Eyes Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan
Mumbai: Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy Stree 2, headlined by Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has stormed the domestic box office, hitting the Rs 525 crore benchmark. This impressive feat places it tantalizingly close to eclipsing the Hindi net collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which stands at Rs 555.50 crore.
The film, now in its 23rd day, added another Rs 3 crore, following a stellar fourth weekend haul of Rs 23.50 crore. Also starring Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Akshay Kumar, Stree 2 shows no signs of slowing down. Industry analysts suggest the movie could soon top the charts as the leading Hindi-language blockbuster.
Several factors have bolstered Stree 2‘s strong performance. The absence of major competition until Devara releases on September 27, coupled with the anticipated boost from National Cinema Day on September 20, has worked in the film’s favor. With three more weeks of potential revenue, Stree 2 aims to achieve a staggering Rs 800 crore globally by the end of its theatrical run.
Stree 2 serves as a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, continuing the narrative with a fresh supernatural antagonist, Sar-Kata, who targets women with modern beliefs. Vicky (Rao) and his friends reunite to combat this new menace, aided by a mysterious woman portrayed by Kapoor.
With its engaging storyline, stellar performances, and strategic timing, Stree 2 is well on its way to rewriting box office records, offering a thrilling ride for both audiences and the industry alike.
