Shocking: Trader Jailed for Desperate Illegal Red Sanders Export Attempt
Yousuf, owner of Suweihan Exporting in Desamangalam, Thrissur, has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹1 lakh for conspiring to defraud the Customs department by attempting the illegal export of red sanders, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reported. This verdict was handed down by the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Ernakulam regarding a CBI-registered case. According to the CBI, Yousuf and two accomplices plotted to export red sanders disguised as coir pith blocks, deceiving Customs officials to clear the illegal shipment. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence later intercepted the consignment at the Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal. Notably, two of the accused remain at large.
