Breaking News: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Fiercely Denies China’s PLA Encroachment in Arunachal Pradesh
Union Minister Denies Chinese Encroachment in Arunachal Pradesh
Amidst heightened reports of incursion by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Arunachal Pradesh, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has addressed concerns, asserting that the painting of marks in undemarcated regions does not signify encroachment. Rijiju, who is from Arunachal Pradesh, clarified that these markings have been misconstrued as evidence of Chinese territorial advances.
Rijiju explained that patrolling overlaps between Indian and Chinese forces are a common occurrence in the undemarcated areas along the Sino-Indian border. However, he emphasized that such overlaps do not constitute a breach of Indian territory.
This statement from the Union Minister follows recent reports alleging that the PLA had entered Indian territory in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, setting up temporary camps in the Kapapu area. Social media has been buzzing with pictures showing bonfires, painted rocks, and leftover Chinese food materials purportedly linked to the PLA’s brief presence.
"China cannot take our land. Overlapping of patrolling does take place in undemarcated areas. They are not allowed to construct anything permanent. There is strict vigilance from our side. Mere painting of marks in undemarcated locations doesn’t mean the areas have been encroached upon," Rijiju told PTI.
Rijiju’s reassurances come at a time when tensions between the two nations remain sensitive, particularly following past skirmishes at various points along the border. His remarks aim to allay fears and underscore that India’s territorial integrity remains uncompromised, despite the complex nature of border patrols in undemarcated regions.
The minister emphasized that vigilance remains stringent and any permanent constructions by the PLA are strictly prohibited. The government’s stance on border security is resolute, ensuring that any potential threat is promptly addressed.
Rijiju’s comments highlight the importance of differentiating between routine border activities and actual encroachment, seeking to provide clarity in a situation often fraught with misinformation.
