Important Alert: Major Traffic Diversions in Coimbatore on September 9 for Joyous Vinayaka Idol Immersion
Coimbatore City Police have announced traffic diversions for Monday, September 9, due to processions for the immersion of Lord Vinayaka idols by various organizations. The first procession will begin at 1 p.m. from Dharmaraja Kovil at Kuniyamuthur, traveling via Palakkad Road to Kuniyamuthur tank. Another procession will start at 2 p.m. from Sarada Mill Road at Podanur and proceed through Sundarapuram to Kurichi tank on Pollachi Road.
To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic, heavy vehicles and trucks are banned from operating in the city between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday. Heavy vehicles, including buses, from Pollachi Road to Ukkadam are advised to take a detour at Eachanari, navigating via Chettipalayam Road, GD tank, Railway Community Centre junction, Podanur bazaar street, Kurichi junction, and Athupalam to reach Ukkadam.
Light motor vehicles traveling from Pollachi Road to Ukkadam should turn right at the Tomato Market, passing through Sarada Mill Road and Railway Community Centre junction before following the same route. Vehicles traveling from Ukkadam to Pollachi Road should follow the reverse directions.
For heavy vehicles and buses heading from Ukkadam to Palakkad via Kuniyamuthur, the route involves Ukkadam – Perur bypass, Ashok Nagar roundabout, a left turn at Selvapuram Government School, Sivalaya junction, Perur, Sundakkamuthur, and Kovaipudur to Palakkad Road. Light motor vehicles should take Ukkadam – Perur bypass, a left at Ashok Nagar roundabout, and Puttuvikki Road to enter Palakkad Road. Traffic from Palakkad Road to Ukkadam should adhere to these routes in reverse.
