Vice President Dhankhar Hails National Education Policy as a Gamechanger on International Literacy Day

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today heralded the National Education Policy (NEP) as a transformative tool allowing youth to fully harness their talent and energy. Speaking as the Chief Guest at an International Literacy Day event in Delhi, Dhankhar emphasized India’s linguistic diversity and the NEP’s crucial role in promoting the importance of mother tongues in education.

Dhankhar underscored literacy’s power to liberate and reduce dependency, noting that India’s literacy rate has surged from 12% post-Independence to needing only a 20% increase to achieve full literacy. He called on citizens to pledge to make at least one person literate, highlighting this act as a profound service to humanity.

The Vice President also declared that India is on an unstoppable march towards development, with significant strides made in areas such as road connectivity, education, electricity, sanitation, and internet access, reaching even the most remote villages.
