Urgent Manhunt: Justice for Female Student Harassed by Police Constable at Saidapet Railway Station
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has launched an intensive search to apprehend Kamalakannan, a police constable who fled after allegedly sexually harassing a 20-year-old engineering student at Saidapet Railway Station. According to police reports, the young woman, an engineering college student, was sitting on the second platform of the station and conversing with her friend around 10:45 p.m. when the incident took place.
Kamalakannan, who was reportedly intoxicated, arrived at the scene and began touching the student inappropriately. Despite her repeated warnings, he persisted with his actions. When the student screamed for help, other passengers intervened, prompting the head constable to escape.
The victim filed a complaint with the GRP at Mambalam. In response, a case has been registered against Kamalakannan under relevant sections, and four special teams have been dispatched to locate the absconding constable. Kamalakannan has also been suspended from duty pending the investigation.
This incident highlights the urgent need for vigilance and stringent measures to prevent such misconduct, especially by individuals entrusted with public safety. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Kamalakannan’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in apprehending him as soon as possible.
