Assam Government Launches 10-Day Healthcare Camps for Children
GUWAHATI: In a significant move towards enhancing child healthcare, the Assam government has initiated a 10-day healthcare camp program starting from September 1. The initiative, championed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, aims to identify and provide early treatment for children with heart and blood-related illnesses.
The primary goal of these camps is to ensure the well-being of every child in Assam through early detection and intervention. Following the screening process, the government will formulate tailored treatment plans for the identified children. Highlighting this commitment, Chief Minister Sarma shared on social media, “Our aim is to ensure the good health of every child in Assam. From 1st-10th Sept, we are organizing special camps to identify children with heart & blood-related illness and chalk out their treatment plan.”
He encouraged parents to bring their children to the nearest screening camps, which will cover comprehensive support, including referrals to designated hospitals for those needing specialized care. Children aged 0 to 14 will receive assistance for conditions like bone marrow transplants, leukemia, thalassemia, and other rare blood diseases. Moreover, healthcare facilities will be extended to children aged 0 to 18 with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
The initiative underscores the government’s proactive role in tackling severe health issues among the young population. On Sunday, the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital conducted a health camp specifically for the Kamrup Metro and Kamrup districts, marking the beginning of this extensive healthcare drive.
In related news, the Assam government continues to support early tea production closures to maintain the quality of the state’s renowned tea industry.
This series of healthcare camps signifies a landmark step in the state’s efforts to prioritize and improve child health, reflecting a robust commitment from the Assam government to the well-being of its younger citizens.
