Shreya Ghoshal Empathetically Postpones ‘All Hearts Tour’ Kolkata Show Amidst RG Kar Tragedy: ‘As a Woman, I Stand With You’
On Saturday, singer Shreya Ghoshal announced the postponement of her Kolkata concert on Instagram and X, following the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor from RG Kar Hospital in the city. Ghoshal conveyed her deep shock and distress over the incident, which prompted her decision to delay the Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert, originally set for September 14, to October 2024.
Expressing her sentiments, Ghoshal said, “I am deeply affected by this gruesome and heinous incident in Kolkata. As a woman, imagining the brutality she endured sends shivers down my spine. With a heavy heart, my promoters and I have decided to reschedule our concert to October 2024.”
She further emphasized the importance of taking a stand in solidarity, stating, “This concert was highly anticipated, but it is imperative for me to join you in solidarity. I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of women globally. I hope my friends and fans understand our decision. Your current tickets will remain valid for the new date. Love, prayers, and hope — Shreya Ghoshal.”
The concert, initially planned for September 14 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, will now be conducted in October. Ticket holders have been assured that their tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date. Meanwhile, the event organizers have updated their website with a notice stating, “This event has been rescheduled but watch this space for updates.”
In response to the horrific incident, several other celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, and Randeep Hooda, have also expressed their horror and condolences.
This move underlines the entertainment industry’s collective mourning and call for action following the harrowing event, as Ghoshal, alongside her peers, stands united in advocating for women’s safety and respecting human dignity.
