Shocking Outrage: Rahul, Akhilesh Slam CM Yogi After Tragic Discovery of Girls’ Bodies Hanging from Tree
New Delhi, Aug 28: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, fiercely criticized the Uttar Pradesh government following the discovery of two teenage Dalit girls found hanging from a tree in Fatehgarh. He stated that seeking justice under the BJP rule is punishable, questioning the intentions of those whose priority is to conceal crimes rather than seek justice for the weak and deprived.
The Dalit teenagers, aged 18 and 15, left their homes around 10 pm on Monday to visit a nearby temple for Janmashtami but did not return. Their bodies were discovered hanging from a tree in a mango orchard the next day. The police have initiated an investigation, initially treating it as a case of double suicide.
Gandhi expressed his dismay through a post on X, asserting that the attitude of the administration towards the victims’ families is intolerable. He shared a video of the girls’ father pleading for justice.
Similarly, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav condemned the Yogi Adityanath government. He accused the BJP dispensation of merging corruption with crime, suggesting that the deaths are shrouded in suspicion due to the girls’ Dalit background and the BJP’s alleged anti-women stance. Yadav announced that he would dispatch a party delegation to Farrukhabad to advocate for justice.
Meanwhile, a panel of doctors concluded that the girls committed suicide, specifying death by hanging. Chief Medical Officer Avnindra Singh reported no external injuries on the bodies and mentioned that vaginal fluid samples were sent to the laboratory to exclude the possibility of rape. The police findings corroborated the medical report.
However, one of the girls’ fathers claimed the postmortem findings were falsified, leading the families to initially refuse the last rites. Following assurances of a thorough investigation by district officials, the families agreed to conduct the last rites for the deceased girls.
The incident has sparked intense scrutiny over the state administration’s response and its commitment to ensuring justice.
