India and Russia Discuss Advanced Space Monitoring for Disaster Management

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of previous agreements such as the 2010 Inter-Governmental Agreement on Emergency Management and the 2013 establishment of the Indo-Russian Joint Commission. These agreements aim to improve early warning systems and overall emergency preparedness. The next commission meeting is scheduled to be held in India in 2026.
Rai reiterated India’s commitment to the Sendai Framework and Prime Minister Modi’s 10-point agenda on disaster risk reduction, highlighting the importance of the collaboration for building resilient systems in both countries.
