Heart-Wrenching Final Hours of Kolkata Doctor: Unveiling the Untold Story
The Calcutta High Court (HC) granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission on Friday, August 23, to conduct polygraph tests on four colleagues of the Kolkata doctor who was raped and murdered in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital seminar room. These colleagues include two first-year postgraduate trainees, a house surgeon, and an intern, who had dinner with the victim on the day of the incident. Although not accused in the case, their statements have been contradictory, prompting the CBI to ascertain if they were involved in evidence tampering.
Sources revealed that fingerprints of two colleagues were found in the seminar room where the 31-year-old doctor’s body was discovered. The CBI aims to scrutinize the timeline between 10:53 am and 11:15 am, during which the victim’s family received two calls from the hospital: the first stating she was “unwell” and the second, reporting a “suicide.”
Previously questioned by both the Kolkata Police and the CBI, the colleagues’ roles in the incident remain under examination. The CBI informed the Supreme Court about a potential cover-up by the local police, indicating the crime scene had been altered before their involvement.
Additionally, the CBI will conduct a lie-detector test on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, scrutinized for his actions following the body’s discovery. The HC has also transferred the investigation of financial irregularities involving Ghosh, previously overseen by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), to the CBI.
The case remains complex as the CBI seeks clarity on these crucial hours and the involvement of key individuals, amidst allegations of evidence tampering and procedural foul play.
