Empowering Unity: Horanadu Kannadiga Convention Unites Hearts in Adoni, Andhra Pradesh This Saturday
The Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha and Kannada organizations of Kurnool and Anantapur districts in Andhra Pradesh are hosting a two-day convention for Kannadigas residing outside Karnataka this weekend in Adoni, Kurnool district. Shankar Halagatti, the general secretary of the Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha, announced in Dharwad that the 12th edition of the ‘Horanadu Kannadigara Samavesha’ will take place at Reddy Bhavan, near Adoni railway station.
Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi will inaugurate the event, with Marirachoti Swami of Kalyan Mutt in attendance. During the inaugural function, the book “Marutatmajam” by Ba. Ni. Laxminarasamma will be released. Halagatti stated that the convention would include various sessions discussing issues related to Kannada language, literature, art, and culture, as well as the challenges faced by Kannadigas in Andhra Pradesh.
The second day will feature two literary sessions starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by a quiz and drawing competition for Kannada-medium students. A poets’ meet is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
The valedictory ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., attended by Shantalinga Swami of Doreswamy Virakt Mutt. Purushottam Bilimale, Chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, will deliver the keynote address, with writer Malati Pattanshetti presiding over the event.
Mr. Halagatti expressed concerns about the lack of support from the State government, noting that while the Sangha organizes numerous initiatives to nurture the Kannada spirit among the youth, necessary funds have not been released. Additionally, a long-standing demand for land to build a cultural hall remains unfulfilled.
