Centre for Children with Cancer Opens in Coimbatore:
Access Life Assistance Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing multi-disciplinary supportive care for families undergoing a child’s cancer treatment, has inaugurated a new centre on Gandhi Nagar, Nanjundapuram Road in Coimbatore. This facility comprises 13 units designed to house 13 families, thereby benefiting a total of 39 individuals (one child and two caregivers per family). The foundation has collaborated with Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, GKNM Hospital, and PSG Hospital to offer an interim hygienic home for children from rural areas seeking treatment in Coimbatore. With this new addition, Access Life now operates nine childhood cancer care centres across Mumbai, Pune, Manipal, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Coimbatore.
Expansion of Hospice Care Unit:
Helping Hearts, a prominent NGO, has bolstered its hospice care services at the Shelter for Urban Homeless, which is run in partnership with the Coimbatore Corporation. Supported by Bosch CSR, the new initiative is situated in Kempatty Colony and includes 25 beds, according to a statement from the NGO. This expansion aims to provide enhanced care for the homeless population in Coimbatore.
International Investment in Tamil Nadu:
London & Partners, an international trade, investment, and promotion agency, has appointed a full-time associate to focus on Tamil Nadu, specifically the cities of Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai. The agency assists Indian companies looking to expand to London by providing guidance, identifying property, and appointing talent, all free of charge. Hemin Bharucha, Country Director for India at London & Partners, highlighted that the agency is particularly interested in sectors like technology, creative industries, sustainability, and life sciences. Currently, 970 Indian companies operate in the UK, with 452 headquartered in London. Over the past two years, India has been the top investor in London, with an average of 35 Indian companies establishing a presence in the city annually.
Environmental Initiatives:
Sangamithra Environmental Education and Development Trust recently organized a sapling planting ceremony in Pollachi. The event also saw the distribution of welfare assistance to persons with disabilities, according to a press release by the trust.
