Shocking Twist in Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: Supreme Court Takes Charge – LIVE Updates on RG Kar Hospital Tragedy
Union Minister L. Murugan has issued a strong condemnation of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata while sharply criticizing the West Bengal government for its alleged inaction. Speaking on the incident, Murugan stated, “It’s a strongly condemnable incident. The West Bengal chief minister should have taken severe action against the accused, but they failed. That’s where the CBI entered and CBI filed the case and CBI started the inquiry.”
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the case, receiving permission to conduct a polygraph test on the suspect. Earlier this week, the CBI team utilized 3D laser mapping technology to examine the emergency ward at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, where the crime reportedly took place.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the case, with a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud set to hear it today.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage and criticism regarding the West Bengal government’s handling of the case, leading to increased demand for swift justice.
