CBI Grills Ex-RG Kar Hospital Principal in Marathon Session: Kolkata Shaken by Doctor’s Heinous Rape and Murder
CBI Questions Ex-RG Kar Principal for a Second Day in Doctor’s Murder Probe
Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, faced a second day of questioning by the CBI on Saturday in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate doctor. Ghosh, who resigned two days after the discovery of the doctor’s body on August 9, was interrogated for several hours at the CGO complex in Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Investigators are probing Ghosh’s whereabouts on the night of the incident, his initial reactions, and the sequence of informing the family and police. The questioning is part of a broader investigation involving around 40 individuals, including doctors and police officers, with over 20 already interviewed.
CBI officials also examined the weekly roster of the chest medicine department, highlighting the victim’s grueling work hours, which included shifts of up to 48 hours.
On the physical evidence front, separate CBI teams revisited the crime scene at RG Kar Hospital and the Kolkata Police barrack where the prime accused, civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, was housed. Forensic samples were collected for further analysis.
Additionally, the investigative team visited Roy’s rented residence in South Kolkata, speaking with his mother and mapping his movements on the day of the crime. Efforts are underway to gather statements from Roy’s acquaintances, including doctors and police officers, to piece together his activities.
Psychologists from New Delhi have also joined the CBI team to assist in the interrogation process. The case continues to unfold as investigators work meticulously to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
