KERRY KING Unleashes: ‘People Are The Cockroaches Of The Earth’ – A Powerful, Unfiltered Revelation

Neon Sunsets – The 80’s Channel recently shared a brief but captivating video interview with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King conducted by two young German fans earlier this year. Kerry opened up about the inspiration behind “Everything I Hate About You,” a track from his debut solo album “From Hell I Rise.” He candidly expressed his disdain for humanity, stating, “People are the cockroaches of the earth. We destroy everything we touch.” He clarified that the song isn’t targeting anyone specifically but captures his fluctuating daily frustrations with different people.

King’s new solo venture made its live debut as the opening act for LAMB OF GOD and MASTODON on July 19 at Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas. The inaugural six-week “Ashes Of Leviathan” tour is set to conclude on August 31 in Omaha, Nebraska. The impressive lineup for King’s band includes famed musicians Mark Osegueda (vocals; DEATH ANGEL), Phil Demmel (guitar; MACHINE HEAD, VIO-LENCE), Kyle Sanders (bass; HELLYEAH), and drummer Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, TESTAMENT, EXODUS).

This past May, the KERRY KING band kicked off their live performances with an intimate show at Reggies in Chicago. The band quickly scaled up their presence by performing at major U.S. festivals like Welcome To Rockville in Florida and Sonic Temple in Ohio. King’s European tour launched on June 3, coinciding with his 60th birthday, in Tilburg, The Netherlands. The tour included headline shows in the U.K., The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Spain, along with notable festival slots at events like Rock Am Ring, Hellfest, Tuska, Download, and Sweden Rock Festival.

“From Hell I Rise,” released this May, features all original material solely penned by King. The album’s production at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles was spearheaded by renowned producer Josh Wilbur, known for his work with KORN, LAMB OF GOD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, and BAD RELIGION.
