Home Minister V. Anitha, alongside Andhra Pradesh TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao, refuted claims by YSRCP leaders regarding the withdrawal of security for former Chief Minister and party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Speaking at a TDP office press conference in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, Ms. Anitha asserted that Mr. Jagan currently benefits from Z+ security, protected by 58 personnel and costing the government approximately ₹30 lakh per month. She dismissed YSRCP’s claims as politically motivated.
Ms. Anitha contrasted this with the security arrangements during the YSRCP regime, where Mr. Jagan had 986 security personnel, costing ₹6 crore monthly. She highlighted that despite being merely an MLA from Pulivendula now, Mr. Jagan continues to receive substantial security due to his former Chief Minister status. In contrast, Ms. Anitha herself receives only Y+ security as the current Home Minister.
The Home Minister also pointed out that after the 2019 elections, the YSRCP government withdrew security for Nara Bhuvaneswari, Nara Brahmini, and family members of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Conversely, the NDA government currently provides 2+2 security to both Mr. Jagan’s wife, Y.S. Bharathi, and his mother, Y.S. Vijayamma, who only had 1+1 security during the YSRCP tenure.
This press conference serves to clarify the actual security arrangements and counter the political narrative purported by YSRCP leaders.
