Traders were active on the New York Stock Exchange floor on June 14, 2024. Key economic updates are on the horizon, beginning with the U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) at 8:30 a.m. ET, which is expected to show a 0.2% increase for July. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) will follow on Wednesday.
The stock market has seen notable declines: the S&P 500 is down over 5% from its July 16 high, the Nasdaq 100 has dropped about 10% since July 10, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is off by roughly 5% from its July 18 peak.
In corporate news, Home Depot is set to release its quarterly report with its stock remaining steady but 13% off its March high. Boeing will report its July orders and deliveries, having fallen approximately 10% since the last report and 38.6% from its December peak.
Nvidia, however, is on the rebound, up 4.1% today and 8.5% over five sessions but still 22.5% below its June 20 high. Other tech giants in the ‘Magnificent Seven’ are also down from various highs in July and September.
In the EV sector, Tesla’s rivalry with Chinese competitors sees declines across all major players. Stocks like Li Auto, Xpeng, BYD, Zeekr, and Nio have dropped significantly over the past three and one-month periods.
Lastly, CNBC will analyze the latest 13F filings, beginning with Berkshire Hathaway, which has risen 19% this year and 4% in three months. These filings will shed light on the buying and selling strategies of top fund managers.
