Heart-Wrenching Chaos: Hamas Fires Rockets at Tel Aviv Following Devastating Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza
Hamas Fires Rockets at Tel Aviv Following Deadly Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza
Hamas launched two rockets at Tel Aviv on Tuesday in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that killed at least 19 Palestinians in Gaza. This marks the first rocket attack claimed by Hamas on Tel Aviv since May. The Israeli military reported no casualties as one rocket landed in the sea and another failed to reach Israeli territory. Hamas’ military wing stated the attacks targeted Tel Aviv in response to "Zionist massacres" and the forced displacement of Palestinians.
The Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of six people, including a mother and her newborn twins, in Deir Al-Balah, and seven others in Al-Bureij camp. Additional strikes killed four people in Al-Maghazi and Rafah, and two in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. The Israeli military asserted it targeted Palestinian gunmen, military structures, and weaponry in various areas within Gaza.
Amidst the violence, the U.S. emphasized that Gaza ceasefire talks scheduled for Thursday will proceed, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken set to engage in discussions in Qatar, Egypt, and Israel. Israel plans to send a delegation to finalize the agreement, while Hamas demands actionable implementation of the U.S. proposal presented by President Biden in May, rather than further negotiations.
The conflict’s recent escalation began on October 7th, when Hamas fighters entered Israel, resulting in over 1,200 Israeli deaths and around 250 hostages taken to Gaza. The ensuing Israeli offensive has devastatingly impacted Gaza, with nearly 40,000 Palestinians killed and mass displacement of the population.
