ZSUN Urges Enrolment at Government Polytechnic Peren Amid Fears of Relocation
Peren, August 11 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has issued a fervent appeal to the community, emphasizing the critical need for student enrolment at the Government Polytechnic Peren (GPP), established in 2021. Despite offering a wide array of vocational and technical courses, the institute has not enrolled any students since its inception, as reported by The Morung Express on August 9, and previously highlighted by the Hindustan Times.
In response to the emerging crisis, ZSUN recently held a constructive meeting with GPP’s principal and teaching staff to review the course offerings and address the zero-enrolment issue. The union clarified that the admission requirements are accessible; students only need to have completed their 10th or 12th grade with at least 45% marks and have passed all subjects.
ZSUN pointed out that the institute must enroll at least 15-17 students to function effectively and sustain its operations. Failure to meet this threshold could result in the institute being relocated, depriving the district of a valuable educational resource. The ZSUN emphasized the potential loss to the district’s educational infrastructure if the institute were to move due to insufficient enrolment.
Highlighting the opportunities provided by GPP, the ZSUN urged parents, youths, and students in the district to recognize the institute’s value. GPP represents a crucial asset for New Peren, offering students essential skills and qualifications for future career success.
The union strongly encouraged eligible students to take advantage of the courses offered at GPP, urging the community to support the institute. ZSUN President Adaube Hiekha and General Secretary Kibouwi Zeliang underscored the importance of community backing in a press release, calling for prompt enrolment to secure the institute’s future within the district.
