Breaking: PM Modi’s Heartfelt Wayanad Visit – Aerial Survey & Road Journey to Chooralmala for On-the-Spot Assessment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kerala on August 10 for a one-day tour of landslide-affected regions in Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Attamala within Vythiri Taluk of Wayanad district. Arriving at Kannur airport at 11 a.m. via an IAF aircraft, he will be received by Kerala Governor Arif Muhammad Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The leaders will then proceed to Wayanad by helicopter for an aerial survey of the disaster zone. Touching down in Wayanad at 12:15 p.m., Mr. Modi will visit the heavily affected areas, crossing the Iruvanipuzha River to reach Mundakkai via a Bailey Bridge constructed by the Madras Engineering Group.
Following this, he will visit a relief camp and hospital to engage with displaced and injured residents and is expected to have a personal meeting with a child orphaned by the landslide. Later, Mr. Modi will chair a review meeting with the cabinet subcommittee overseeing search and rescue operations, along with the District Administration and other officials. Mr. Modi is scheduled to return to the national capital by 3 p.m.
In light of Mr. Modi’s visit, the government has temporarily halted search and rescue operations, which are set to resume on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
